“The Castle Connolly recognition in medicine is considered by physicians to be the only legitimate recognized category of excellence in American Medicine.”       – Dr Joseph Feuerstein, MD
Direct From The Castle Connolly Web Site - What It Means To Be A Top Doc:
“The Official Top Doctor Directory: Choosing with Confidence

Looking for the best doctors to care for you or a loved one can be overwhelming and stressful. When it comes to medical care, excellence and expertise are crucially important. Inferior care can have costly and damaging results. Too often, patients simply don’t know how to find the right doctor.

Castle Connolly takes this challenge seriously. For over 30 years patients have turned to us as the official source of Top Doctors to find trusted, quality care. Our list, which covers all 50 states and all major specialties, is based on nominations from doctors themselves. Although we ask physicians to consider many criteria when nominating their fellow providers, the premise is simple – as a doctor, where would you go if you needed care?

Our physician-led research team then thoroughly screens each nomination to ensure that every Top Doctor selection meets Castle Connolly’s rigorous standards. Castle Connolly Top Doctors do not pay to receive this elite designation. You can learn more about our selection process here.

Doctors with deeper expertise – higher procedure volumes, access to advanced diagnostic and treatment options, and those leading cutting-edge research – are proven to have better patient outcomes. For example, in one study of 10,343 gastric bypass surgeries published in the New England Journal of Medicine, the top 25% of surgeons had a complication rate of 5.2% versus 14.5% for the bottom 25% of surgeons. Quality care matters. At Castle Connolly, it’s our goal to connect patients with these best-in-class providers.”

“Dr. Barden is incredible! I have problems with my hip and elbow. He took time to educate me on what is going on with my hip and elbow, ways to remedy the problems, and recovery time. It’s extremely rare in the field of medicine to find a doctor who knows so much about orthopedics yet so personable and kind at the same time. I can’t praise his knowledge, his expertise, and his bedside manor enough. Thank you Dr. Barden”

“Broke my first bone and was very nervous about it all. Dr. Barden explained to me how everything heals up in a way I could understand as well as the physical limitations I may have during the process. He also recommended the vitamins I needed to take to help. He was very patient and calming. Would highly recommend.”
